Four Fingers Above the Horizon

th_avatar-014In every humans life there is a desire to live free. A life free from strict regimented treadmill principals, adopted by most industry from which there is no easy way of getting off. It is my belief that most people have a passion for something extraordinary, but the political stifling of creativity in the work place is often the rule instead of the exception.  Passion, the creative force behind all great things, is often beaten down into a common mold of ineptitude. Somewhere along this winding road between college and retirement, this passion is lost, or at best, smoldered down to little more than a glowing ember. Managers in businesses across America do not want an employee to be smarter than they; they wish to have subordinates who have been dummied down. So as, I suspect, not to expect anything other than what was on some bean counters timeline or what they could come up with in their own deranged and disillusioned world. It is no wonder, as great as our country is; America is finding fewer and fewer areas of commerce that it can compete in. This is due largely to passionless, spineless and self-serving moguls who run our businesses and country.

It is time to wake the wolf within. It is time to poke a stick at the resting beast so that it may show again it’s intolerance to the abuses to ingenuity and liberty at large.

Let me hear the reverberating rumble of its growl; the voice of the silent majority whose voice is never heard in the boardroom or in town-hall meetings. Voices with solutions to our problems!

Show me it’s quivering muzzle and exposed teeth; the symbol of disdain we share in how our country and businesses are being mismanaged.

Show me its drool; from decades of bile generated from freedom-haters, idea controllers, Fat-cats and Politicians.

Show me its piercing and unblinking eyes; as a testament to the smoke screen we have been forced to see through generation after generation.

Let me see the head-low stance; indicative of the embarrassment of selecting profits over solutions to our environmental, energy and healthcare problems.

Let me see the pawing of dirt; bloodied from decades of being treaded upon. Young and old, regardless of race, creed and religious belongings, we have allowed ourselves to become door mats.

Awake the wolf within yourself and turn it loose and watch the Fat-cats and Politico’s gather their pinstripe girdles around their supersized butts and run for the high country. You will see a transformation in our country and see it become better than it ever was.

As I write these words the song “Cool Change” by the Little River Band runs through my mind.

If there’s one thing in my life that’s missing
It’s the time I spend alone
Sailing on the cool and bright clear waters
There’s lots of those friendly people
Showin me ways to go
And I never want to lose your inspiration

The frame work from which I am writing is clearly called out in these lyrics. It continues:

Now that my life
is so pre-arranged
I know that it’s time
for a cool change
If you judge each man for his body of works, I am hopeful that my body of works will be judged mostly for showing  others  how to rekindle that glowing ember  of passion that was once lost and to live a fulfilled life.  I know many people who are living their passion and my wish is for you to experience what they do; ether in your profession of choice, or in your personal life.

In the next few weeks, months, and hopefully years, I will be inviting you to come along with me. Along the journey, you will be introduced to the people and places I encounter and hopefully find them as rewarding as I do. I will also introduce you to my family and friends who will share with you wisdom from a unique perspective. Through stories and anecdotes that will be both enlightening and entertaining. Will we change the problems we face today? Maybe not! But perhaps we may be lucky in helping a reader find an important part of their innerself that may have gone missing some years back.

You may wish, at some point, to travel these roads and destinations by yourself. It is my hope that the information written within these pages will become helpful to you. If you do, drop me line and let me know your story.

My adventures will be chronicled here in this space as well as E-books that are forth coming.

So grab your helmet, suit up and meet me outside!

The motor is running. The wolf has been set free.

  2. I love this. I have always felt that you were hiding a talent that needed to be shared. And now reading your life stories lets me and others in on the wonderful, funny, sad, etc. experiences that you and your family have lived. Waiting for more..

  3. I am amazed at your talent to describe what others feel but can’t express. Truly a gift. I feel I have a good sense of character and I told my co-workers the first time I talked to you that there was something unique about you but that I couldn’t put my finger on it. Well your writing is definitely “IT”.
